Queensland Youth Services Inc. (QYS) is a non-government, not-for-profit, community based organisation which since its establishment in 1978 has been providing a diverse range of services to young people aged between 12 and 25 years in the Townsville Region.

 

The organisation is governed by a Committee of Management which is elected annually by its community membership.

 

The vision statement of Queensland Youth Services is:

  • to work with and for young people to access existing options and opportunities and to
    promote their well being
  • to act as a catalyst to recognise and challenge structural inequalities with the aim of social
    change and the empowerment of young people
  • to develop with young people a sense of self respect, dignity, belonging and purpose
    and value in themselves and the community

As the largest agency in the Townsville / Thuringowa area which has an exclusively youth specific generic focus, QYS is widely recognised throughout the community sector. The organisation derives its current funding from a variety of sources on both a State and Federal government level to operate and manage our various programs. Youth Homelessness Programs / Services Guide - Townsville 

The 'Youth Homelessness Programs / Services Guide - Townsville'(Spreadsheet format)- Queensland Youth Services Inc. has compiled a guide to accommodation and associated services for professionals assisting young people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness in Townsville. This guide is also available if a hard copy booklet format for printing in your workplace if required.

 

Youth Specific Training Programs

Queensland Youth Services Inc. is committed to providing a high standard of service and understand that well informed employees are an integral part of service quality. In providing 'youth specific' training for our own employees, we have decided to expand the access to the youth workers outside of our organisation who will benefit from this type of training.
