Queensland Youth Services Inc
Queensland Youth Services Inc. (QYS) is a non-government,
not-for-profit, community based organisation which since its
establishment in 1978 has been providing a diverse range of
services to young people aged between 12 and 25 years in the
Townsville Region.
The organisation is governed by a Committee of Management
which is elected annually by its community membership.
The
vision statement of Queensland Youth Services
is:
- to work with and for young people to
access existing options and opportunities and to
promote their well being
- to act as a catalyst to recognise and challenge
structural inequalities with the aim of social
change and the empowerment of young people
- to develop with young people a sense of self respect,
dignity, belonging and purpose
and value in themselves and the community
As the only agency in the Townsville / Thuringowa area which
has an exclusively youth specific generic focus, QYS is widely
recognised throughout the community sector. The organisation
derives its current funding from a variety of sources on both a
State and Federal government level to operate and manage our
various programs. Details of each of the following can
be found on the Programs page:
- Youth Support Coordinator Program
- Reconnect Program
- Young Parents Programs

- PPOSSIBLEE Program ("Providing
Parents with Opportunities for Support & Self Sufficiency in
Building Links to Employment & Education")
